Vocational & Supported Employment Services
The
Human Development Council offers a variety of vocational training opportunities
within our centers as well as out in the local community. The goal of our
vocational service program is to provide vocational skills training in "real
life" job settings that will allow the consumer to reach his/her true potential.
We are also committed to instilling a sense of accomplishment and self-worth to
our consumers by providing the opportunity to earn a paycheck during the work
training process.

The following is a list of
vocational programs available through WCHDC:

AT YOUR SERVICE: This is a
Supported Employment program that offers lawn, landscaping, and janitorial
services to residential and business customers throughout Washington
County. Consumers arrive in the morning and work with job coaches
throughout the day. |

CENTER STREET GRILL:
Located on Center Street in the west end of Hagerstown, this neighborhood
restaurant is a State licensed vocational training site. Here, under
the guidance of our staff, consumers acquire the skills necessary for
successful placement within the food service industry. |

COMMERCIAL CONTRACT PROGRAM:
This "in-center" vocational program offers compensated work training
processing thousands of pieces of mail and small parts each month for a variety of
business customers. Under the guidance of our Work Program
Supervisor, consumers learn both job-specific and general work skills.
This program operates out of our Hagerstown center. |

JANITORIAL SERVICES:
Offered at both our Hagerstown and Frederick centers, this program teaches
basic janitorial skills with emphasis on cleaning in a work environment
while providing consumers a paycheck for their services to the center.
